Welcome to Creative Word

Creative Word began with poetry and chronic pain.  Attending a pain management programme at Basildon Hospital in Essex, David began applying Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to writing poetry.  He now holds poetry workshops with patients as part of the course.

David finally found the time to write when he was unable to work with on-going back problems.  He put to good use the many hours spent lying on the floor by writing his first children's book 'Super Aida' which is now firmly in a bottom drawer.

His second book 'SJA Cadets - Vicki's Story' is currently drawing interest from a major UK publisher, while he is now working on his third, 'Away to Danger'.  He has also written two picture books for younger children, 'Bathtime for Bengy' and 'The Fox and the Box' which are regularly sent out to publishers (and so far, always returned!)

David is a qualified self-employed tutor, working for the WEA, Basildon Hospital Trust, Millrace IT and other charities.  He also offers tutorials with creative writing groups in the South East.

David's first poetry collection, Tunnel Vision, based on his own experiences with pain is available - details on the publications tab.

Also check out the blog on his 'Away to Danger' project, about the experiences of an eleven year old boy during the early part of World War II.  He'll be posting details of his progress here in the coming months.

In the meantime, remember that ...

In this busy world, it's always worth the time to consider... Creative Word.
